This is a blog I created to support some classes I am teaching this Fall at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Bartlett, Tennessee and at Holy Trinity United Church of Christ in Midtown Memphis.

Phyllis Tickle and Peter Rollins discuss the emerge-ncy
Phyllis Tickle and Peter Rollins discuss the spirit and theology of the emerging church movement and what is happening abroad.
So here we are considering Peter Rollins and the Emerging Church. You will find in this blog, my notes and wonderings about the emerging church and in particular about Rollins' book HOW NOT TO TALK OF GOD.
You will discover that I am on a journey into the Emergency. Together we may find out we don't know as much as we think we should know, and that knowing what we do know, we know less about even the knowing itself.
As a retired University Professor, I am now beginning a second career as a writer. I taught my first university class in 1967, so I have been at this labor for a very long time. Over these years I have worn many hats, taught many courses, written books, collected rare books, edited many others. As a result, I am well educated in many topics and specialist in few. I live in Memphis where I find lots to grumble about and much to laugh about too. I hope you find something here to think about and on occasion something to grumble back about.
